eBay Fee changes comparison to Yahoo!Japan auctions Today, high volume sellers at eBay expressed discontent of the recent announcement of eBay Fee changes.

Annnouncement press release
http://www.gopesa.org/fees_stmt.cfm

The Members of the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance (PESA), the trade
association of more than 600 of eBay's highest volume sellers (accounting
for over $1 billion in annual eBay sales), express our dismay at eBay's
recent price increases

Accoding to the eBay announcement,
http://www2.ebay.com:80/aw/marketing.shtml#2005-01-12075944
the gallery fee is going to change from $0.25 to $0.35 per listing.

Comparing this fee to the largest auction marketplace in Japan, Yahoo!Auctions, it seems rather high.

To buy or sell at Yahoo!Auctions, you need to be a "premium member", this fee is 294yen/month(about $2.8). This includes many other services such as online payment service, video streaming service, so this is not just auction fee. The listing fee is 10.5yen per listing(about $0.1) and the commission fee is 3% when you buy an item.

I think this is rather reasonable, and we might be favored here in Japan.

Fybersearch updated Searchengine Fybersearch has been updated today.
http://www.fybersearch.com/pr-6.php

from the press release,
One development is the integration of XML technology. You can now view
search results as XML feed or RSS feed for free by using the corresponding links
from the FyberSearch Web Search results page.

It seems to be a trend to RSS feed search results(Yahoo! is testing it). One problem is that it's quite useful when your search term is "narrow", but sometimes hundreds of results come out and only the top 10 or so just come back. I think this needs to be solved in a more "usable" way before it goes out of beta. The developer of Fybersearch is a just 19years old youngman, and I hope to see many interesting feature in the near future.
